There are two parts to this course. The first part delivers the foundational knowledge and essential concepts needed to use the COBie standard. Every COBie data field is covered in this part of the course. To help you pace your work, this first part of the COBie ‘As Designed’ course is provided as two sections covering COBie data created or updated during design, construction, and commissioning.

The second part of the course provides you with the hands-on techniques you need to specify the delivery of COBie data, created during design or construction with specific commercial software, and test to make sure that COBie data files meet NBIMS-US V3 and standard contract requirements.

COBie As-Designed gives the student the context to understand why COBie was created and how COBie is structured. This course describes the “outline” of the COBie file, the information primarily created by designers. The following COBie spreadsheet Tabs are discussed in detail: Facility, Floor, Space, Type, Component, and Attribute. There is no prerequisite for the COBie As-Designed course.
